Free Image Upscaler up to 8K Pixels

Use this free image upscaler to enlarge PNG, JPG or WebP images with Real-ESRGAN at 2× or 4×, with an edge up to 8K for suitable source dimensions. AI runs on a Modal GPU and the PNG downloads automatically, without sign-up or a GPU on your device. Service depends on the available shared budget.

How to use it

  1. Select an image and check the displayed output dimensions.
  2. Choose Real-ESRGAN and 2× or 4×. Pressing Upscale uploads the image to the cloud service.
  3. Wait for processing; the verified PNG downloads automatically. Use Download again if your browser blocks the automatic download.

Before you export

  • Source limits are 10 MB, 67,108,864 pixels and 32768 px per edge. Output is limited to 8192 × 8192 px. Large images are downsized before AI processing; check the displayed output dimensions before starting.
  • AI can introduce details that differ from the original; inspect text, logos and fine edges before use. Transparency is resized separately.

Common questions

Can I upscale an image up to 8K pixels?

Yes. Each output edge can reach 8192 pixels, including square 8192 × 8192 images. A 2048 × 960 source at 4× produces 8192 × 3840. A 5000 × 5000 source at 4× is reduced to 4096 × 4096 and processed with the native 2× model to produce 8192 × 8192. Final dimensions are displayed before processing; small images are not automatically enlarged to 8K.

Is this image upscaler free?

You do not pay or create an account to upscale images. The shared website budget covers AI processing. When the budget cannot cover a new request and the safety reserve, the model temporarily locks; the server reopens it after verifying renewed budget. Each IP is limited to 100 accepted requests per UTC day.

Is my image uploaded?

Yes, when you press Upscale: your image passes through Cloudflare to Modal for processing. DesignForge does not store image contents in D1; temporary job results are managed by Modal. Read the privacy policy before uploading.

Are there usage limits?

Up to 100 accepted requests per IP per UTC day. Accepted failed or cancelled requests still count. There is no site-wide daily or monthly request-count cap; the shared-budget service locks when it cannot cover a new request while preserving 100 reserve tokens, or when the budget cannot be verified.

What do tokens mean?

These are shared budget units: 100 tokens represent 1 USD, and 3000 tokens represent 30 USD. They are not AI inference tokens or an image count. Cost data may be delayed; the model reopens only when the server verifies renewed budget, rather than relying on the browser clock or displayed count.

Does Cancel stop the GPU immediately?

The application requests cancellation from the server and stops waiting. Cancellation may arrive late or fail; closing the page does not guarantee that server processing stops.
